I Want to Plant a Money Tree
Class of 2013

Today I am so happy that I get to go on a fieldtrip. I'm happy because when I was in kindergarten I only went on one field trip. It happened when I was in 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade. The reason I went on one field trip for each of my grades is because my mom said the reason I can't go on all the fieldtrips is because money don't grow on trees. If it did she said she could let me go on any field trip I want to go on. So I told her that I was going to grow money. She said the money can't grow into a tree. But I did it anyway. So I put a penny in the ground and watered it but it still wouldn't grow. I gave it better soil but it still wouldn't grow. The day after that I told mom she was right, money can't grow into trees. So I went to bed and rested my hand from planting a penny. That night I dreamed that my penny grew into a large money tree.

--Doneisha is one of the 52 10-year-old reasons I teach this year.
