5th grade drama is the best!!

Still surviving in the Lone Star State... yesterday was Hell, we have like 15 kids on the "bench" which means they are in big trouble, and boy do they love to test us. I ended my crappy day by spending almost $200 at WalMart (sorry mom!) because it's cheap and i'm poor and it was there and oh God I can't believe I spent that much at WalMart. But anyway, I bought lots of fun supplies, a puzzle for relaxing times at home and a DVD player, my first of my very own. Did I ever mentioned that I got threatened/pushed two days in a row last week? Not too scary, but the adrenaline was high. I mean, they are 10 they can't hurt me, but it's still not cool when anyone says "Mmmm..you're gonna fall." So because yesterday sucked, today was better- the kids were learning (or so it seemed) and tomorrow we are launching POWER- an acronym for Writer's Workshop. And we get to watch SchoolHouse Rock, which I don't think I've ever seen, so I"ll be just as excited as the kids. What else is new :)

Another of the 52 reasons I teach:
Sorrell. Sorrell is a lanky, bright fifth grader with a slight overbite. He is a doting older brother, and when his kindergartner brother first arrived at school, he had to be brought upstairs to the 5th grade so that Sorrell could console him and hold his hand : ) On a sidennote, I think something romantic is blossoming between Sorrell and Tre-Shawna, another lanky bright fifth grader. Will post update later.

Speaking of romance, here it is 5th grade style: So, apparently Monique asked Michael if they could be boyfriend-girlfriend. He said no, I don't like you and somehow Tawana got involved, and there were almost tears, but just about when I was trying to figure out how to deal with 5th grade Soap Operas, all parties seemed to have forgotten about it. Alas, in the life of a 5th grader 10 minutes can be like 10 days.

That's all I got for ya.
Sarah B.
