Yes I am alive and writing again!

No shortcuts, no excuses we say in the KIPP World. So I’m not going to make any, just jump right into what’s been going on since I last wrote like 2 years ago. School is actually settled down to the point where I don’t stress about the little stuff anymore. I have really enjoyed my homeroom the Oregon Ducks lately. And I’m excited because I just ordered a class set of “Pippi Longstocking,” a childhood favorite of mine that we are going to read together and then watch the movie! They are going to love it, I’m pretty sure.

I just returned to writing and it was actually a pretty smooth transition considering everything. They are just starting a personal narrative about a moment in their lives they are really proud of. I always love when they do projects, and they love it too, but it’s TONS of work on my end, so that’s not super cool. Other recent news- my kids took the 5th grade Science TAKS, who knows how they did. Most state testing is done now, except the math retake. Thank God!! I took 10 kids to the NASA space center, that was super fun for them. And my favorite identical twins the Kellys came back. Bobrisha is still dancing her way to her seat. Exciting upcoming things include: a full-day trip to Texas Southern University (they loved our brief visit to University of Houston), a 5th grade Spelling Bee, a big college project where each kid will “apply” to a college they chose (my homeroom got the west coast region) and an end of year trip to Sea World!! Apparently we will be sleeping on the floor of the shark tank…or everyone else will be, while I am outside in the parking lot sleeping on the bus.

Look for another installment in a day or two, recounting the fabulous MS150 bike ride that happened last weekend!
