Hormones, Weeds and Michael Jordan
Where to start.... well, life has been active, full and chaotic!! I hit the ground running, diving in to teaching all subjects. It's been a challenge, to say the least, but enjoyable. It's like having a little family- we are together all day, for better or worse. My 10 children and I. It's ten now, as Kayla was an addition in early September- she was the only girl in the other 5th grade class, so the switch was a must. 10 is a nice number. I have had to keep the boys and girls separate because of hormonal issues, which is obnoxious but necessary.
Busy busy busy due to Tuesday and Wednesday after school tutoring. It pays big bucks but it's wearing me out! Payday will be worth the effort though. I have been enjoying my Weds. night tradition of TV watching with 3 friends- we usually watch "Lost" but since the ABC people are cruel and it's not coming back on the air until February, we have adopted "Weeds" as our filler show.... it's pretty sweet as well. Any other suggestions for when we finish Season 2 of Weeds?
We had a fun Labor Day roadtrip to Atlanta to visit my TFA Institute friend Dre... man, I love roadtrips. Our visit included lots of soul-food eating, IHOP-eating, lazing around and going to a club where Michael Jordan was present- no sighting, he pretty much stuck to the VIP lounge. Bummer... I was on the lookout!
Still trying to get Ronnie into the JobCorps program...man, stuff in Louisiana takes FOREVER! The pace of life down south alternates between endearing and frustrating. But it's not gonna change so I best get used to it sooner than later!
New Orleans is still delightful, although it is the season of torrential downpours followed by blue skies followed by more torrential downpours. I have mastered the art of ducking under overhangs and patiently waiting for the rain to subside. I still don't own an umbrella... I might need to remedy that. October is actually one of the nicer months, usually.
Gosh so much else has happened, but really it's just the daily grind....hear the alarm at 5:20, push snooze too many times, rush and make coffee and breakfast to go, carpool with Greta to the sugar cane fields (enjoying my new satellite radio- 2 hours in the car warranted such a purchase, i thought), teaching the children for many hours, getting home, watching Jeopardy, watching more TV, not leaving the couch and then going to bed. It's a pretty exciting life, I must say. The days are never boring so the nights are low key.
I hope y'all are well!
