May Madness

Here is the catch-up blog #1, the May version. June still to come :)

May:

Jazzfest was amazing, obviously. Lots of people watching. My favorite this year had to be the drunk lesbian who ended the day ditching her gal for a 70 year old bald man with a cowboy hat and bitchin' sideburns. Lots of drama. The acts this year were good- Alison Krauss and Robert Plant was super mellow. So chill, that I popped a squat on a grassy knoll of to the side of the concert area and was nearly lulled to sleep. Very soothing. When I decided to return to the crowd, two super drunk Israeli boys kept insisting I was their friend Moria. Just a typical day at J-Fest. The best act of the weekend was definitely Sheryl Crow. I had never seen her, and she tore the place up- even songs I had never heard were awesome. All of the aforementioned events were just Friday, by the way. Saturday was another story- rain, rain, rain. I brought a light windbreaker that I learned was NOT rainproof. We tried to stick it out for Billy Joel through the torrential rain, but when Billy had not played a single hit we recognized, sitting in a puddle of water (literally) was less tolerable.

Weekend two was the Aden visit (3 year tradition and counting!). Stevie Wonder was no Lionel, but entertaining. We did the usual stuff- Po'Boys at Parasols, Balcony Bar night out, etc. A few weeks later, Karin visited. I put her to work breaking down my classroom, so the damn summer camp people could use it. GRRRR. Thank you Karin for removing like 4,000 staples from my wall. I owe you big time!

The school year ended on a Friday, and Summer school started the following Monday, Memorial Day. School on a Memorial Day- crazy, huh? Well, summer school can be it's own blog, so we'll save that for another time.

Peace, Sarah
