Snowballs in the sun
Ah, this is the life. Beautiful sunny day, stuffed snowball in hand. For those of you who don't speak New Orleanese, that is a snowcone with ice cream in the middle. In other words, heaven. so it's not like there haven't been enough stories to write, but I guess in my fourth year maybe I just forget more, or am just surprised less. Kids still do funny things every day (make that- every minute of every day), but my days are so jam-packed I can hardly remember what I ate for breakfast by 3:30 pm - but I can narrow it down to either two Eggos or a yogurt and apple. That's what it always is. Oh, and coffee- I don't know how some teachers live without it. I used to be shocked and appalled at people who drank more than one cup a day. Now I completely understand. But I'm still trying not to go there.
This quick rundown will in no way do the spring justice, but a roundup nonetheless:
Aden got hitched on May 2! Everything was classy, beautiful and super fun. Loved spending time with cousins, family and friends. The wedding singer was my new best friend, and my rendition of Jessie's Girl was so much fun. Got pulled on stage, what's a girl to do? So much more to tell, and I will write more about it someday...
The last quarter of school was bittersweet. I loved watching my little scholars grow and become more geeky by the day under my writing tutelage. They really rocked out the iLEAP state tests in April, and it was such a pleasure to watch them show their skills both in their content knowledge and the way they took the test so intelligently. My homeroom started out crazy, then mellowed out a bit. They were often the most challenging and the most entertaining. Especially Brian and Jordan- those two can do killer impressions of just about everyone in the world, from Austin Powers to a tango dancer! I knew I wouldn't be returning in the fall, but now it is getting more and more difficult for me to return in the spring, due to district level hiring processes. We'll see how it all pans out!!
I have spend a good chunk of time planning all my travels, which has really energized me. Great things lie ahead, as long as I just keep the courage to go after them!
